Update Nov 2012: Major works have been completed in 2011/2012 on the clerestory windows and parapets on the South side of St. George's Church. At the same time the lychgate was rescued from collapse and fully restored. Further works on the north side included stonework repair to the west doorway, north aisle windows, and the north east buttress. The total cost was £120,000.
Thanks to all those who helped organise fund raising events, made donations, and those who helped practically with repairs and maintenance over the last four years. The Repair Fund raised £14,000 towards the works and we received generous grants from English Heritage (HLF), GCG Environment Trust, National Churches Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation, Essex Heritage Trust, Friends of Essex Churches Trust, Allchurches Trust, and The Veneziana Fund. We thank our Stone family friends in the United States who have generously supported us with their donations.
